Miami is somewhere we had both been a few times before, but never together. We actually went to Miami for a football game (if you didn’t know, Shanna is a huge Miami Dolphins fan haha) but the week we were going also happened to be Art Basel so we made a trip out of it! Miami is easy to get to, the flights are fairly cheap, and it’s always warm. It’s a great place to go to escape the winter weather and see some palm trees without having to travel too far, and that’s exactly what we did.

Where to Stay

Gabi has family in Miami so we were able to stay with them! One of our #1 travel tips to people who want to start traveling is to visit family — it’s easy, cheap, and you will feel comfortable exploring a new place with someone you know. Later on in our trip we stayed on Hollywood Beach which is an area we would recommend if you want to stay on the beach. The hotels are pricer but the location is worth it.

Best Things to Do

  • Walk around the Wynwood Art Walls

  • Relax under the sun on Hollywood Beach

  • Explore down the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk

  • Visit Little Havana

  • Watch a football game at Hard Rock Stadium

Where to Eat & Drink

  • Versailles (famous authentic Cuban restaurant)

  • The Salty Donut

  • Raw Juce

We were only in Miami for a few days and honestly, we didn’t get to explore it the way we really wanted to. We’re definitely planning on going back and making and updated guide with some more recommendations. Miami is one of those places that’s easy for get to get to so we don’t think to go as often, but we know there is so much more to see there and we can’t wait to experience it.

3 Days in Miami

We went to Miami for a quick trip earlier this month! We were only there for a few days but it was so nice to get out of the city for a bit. We had the best time exploring! And a big thank you to Gabi's family who took us around and showed us the city from a local's POV.
