LGBTQ+ Guide to Atlanta

Even though it’s located in the South, Atlanta is definitely an LGBTQ+ hotspot. During our trip to The ATL we visited so many queer owned restaurants, bars, businesses, and just got to explore the city as a whole. It’s definitely a progressive city for the southern United States and we had a great time seeing everything the city has to offer. We definitely think you only need a few days in Atlanta to see the whole city, so we are going to tell you what spots you cannot miss during your trip!

Where to Stay in Atlanta

We stayed at 2 different Hilton properties in Atlanta — first we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in Buckhead which is an upscale neighborhood with tons of shopping, but it’s a little far from downtown. The Waldorf property in Buckhead is beautiful and even has a spa & a pool. We got to experience both first hand and it was the most relaxing experience!

The second Hilton we stayed at was the Canopy by Hilton in Midtown, which was in walking distance to a lot of the sights we wanted to see. The Midtown area of Atlanta is known as the LGBTQ+ area so if you want to stay close that neighborhood, we recommend staying at the Canopy!

How to Get Around Atlanta

Atlanta is one of those cities where it’s really hard to walk to & from the different neighborhoods. If you are staying in one specific area, you can definitely explore that part by foot, but if you want to get around to different areas you’re going to need to take Uber/Lyft or bike. The Ubers/Lyfts were affordable but we had to take them everywhere so just keep that in mind when you are visiting.
