Burlington is one of the cutest small towns we’ve ever been to! Burlington is in the northern part of Vermont, so north that it’s only about an hour drive from Canada! It’s very trendy, environmentally conscious, and is full of life. We visited Burlington during the winter (during a blizzard to be exact lol) but this town thrives on the cold weather. We absolutely loved Burlington and we can’t wait to make a trip back and see what it’s like in the summer!

How to get to Burlington

Burlington is about a 6 hour drive from NYC (8.5 if you’re driving through a blizzard like we were haha). If you’re not driving, you can take the Amtrak there was well.

Where to Stay

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Burlington. The location was perfect because it was in walking distance to anywhere we wanted to go! The room was nice and had an amazing view of Lake Champlain, which we loved watching the sunset from! They also had an underground parking garage but just be aware that they do charge $12 a day for parking.

Best Things to Do

  • Walk up and down Church Street Marketplace

  • Take a stroll down the Lake Champlain Waterfront

  • Shop at some local stores on College St.

  • Have a pint at one of the many amazing breweries — we really liked Foam

  • Watch a comedy show at the Vermont Comedy Club

  • (if you’re visiting during the winter) Go to the Ice Bar, an outdoor event with local restaurants, breweries, dancing, and insanely cool ice sculptures!

Where to Eat & Drink

  • The Friendly Toast

  • New Moon Cafe

  • Onyx Tonics Specialty Coffee

  • Gaku Ramen

  • Revolution Kitchen

  • Penny Cluse Cafe

  • Honey Road

  • The Skinny Pancake

  • Foam Brewers

  • Zero Gravity Brewery

  • Citizen Cider

We really did fall in love with this little town. The vibe is right up our alley, and we felt totally safe and comfortable there as a same-sex couple. We loved popping into all the local shops and drinking some craft beer! Burlington is the perfect town for a little weekend getaway and we can’t wait to go back soon!

Thanks so much to Hello Burlington for inviting us on this trip!
