Miami Beach is probably one of the most popular tourist destinations in the USA, but there is actually so much to do in the area that most people miss out on! We had such a good 3 day trip visiting Miami Beach and we did a lot more than just the beach (even though the beach is really nice haha). We got to see a whole different side of Miami Beach and it made us fall even more in love with the destination. Keep on reading to see how to spend 72 hours in Miami Beach!

Rooftop Pool at Dream Hotel South Beach

We stayed at The Dream Hotel in South Beach and we thought it was great for a short stay. It’s in a perfect location, right in the middle of South Beach so you are close to a lot of different things you will want to do. They also have an amazing rooftop pool, and a private area of the beach with complimentary chairs and towels. There is a Mexican restaurant downstairs, but you can also get the food from the restaurant delivered to the pool or as room service.

How to Get Around Miami Beach

We think walking is the best way to get around Miami Beach! It does get very hoy & humid so make sure you have plenty of water with you. There are also citi bikes you can rent and tons of bike lanes as well. You can also use Uber or Lyft to get around if you want to. We don’t recommend renting a car because parking can be difficult and we honestly don’t think you need one!

  • Go to the beach (obviously haha) - The beach has these adorable, colorful lifeguard houses about every block or so which are great for photos. The ocean is also pretty shallow and very warm! Definitely a great beach to relax and swim at all day.

  • Walk Around South Pointe Park - One of our favorite things to do in Miami Beach! The park is the southern most part of Miami and is filled with palm trees. It sits along the water so it’s a great place to walk around.

  • Take a trip to the Miami Beach Botanical Garden - One of our favorite botanical gardens we’ve ever been to! It’s free to enter and they have some of the most beautiful wild plants and butterflies! A really nice play to hangout for a few hours.

  • Try some local food at Time Out Market Miami - The Time Out Market has s bunch of different local food vendors inside with all different types of cuisine. We definitely recommend stopping by here for lunch one day!

  • Explore Artechouse - Artechouse is an art and technology exhibition that combines both science and art. It’s $20 per person to enter and is something different to do if you’re looking for a unique activity.

  • Watch a film at the Soundscape Outdoor Cinema - Every Wednesday from October-May at SoundScape Park they play a different movie outdoors! It’s free to attend and you can check their website to see the film lineup.

  • Visit the Versace Mansion - The Versace Mansion is the former home of Gianni Versace. He was actually murdered on the steps of the mansion in 1997 so the place has become infamous. Nowadays there is a restaurant in the mansion so you can dine inside if you want.

  • Go Shopping at Lincoln Mall - Lincoln Mall is a strip of shops and restaurants — both local and name brands — on Lincoln Road in South Beach. It’s a great area to walk around outdoors and pop into some stores.

The LGBTQ+ Scene in Miami Beach

Miami Beach has a lively, welcoming, and inclusive LGBTQ+ scene. We felt very comfortable showing that we are a couple in Miami Beach and had no issues walking around while showing PDA. Miami Beach also has a rainbow crosswalk on 12th Street and Ocean Drive that was dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community of Miami in 2018. Palace Drag Bar — the number 1 drag bar in South Beach — is also located in Miami Beach and has daily drag shows starting at 7pm.
