New Paltz, New York
A friend invited us up to their house in New Paltz so of course we said yes! New Paltz is an area in the Hudson Valley that we hadn’t yet explored and we’d heard such great things about it! There is a lot to do here from the hiking trails in the state park, to exploring the downtown streets, and even drinking some of the local ciders. New Paltz is a town that felt really homey to us which is probably why we loved visiting so much.
How to get to New Paltz
We drove to New Paltz, which is only about 2 hours away. If you were to take public transport from NYC, you would need to take a bus from Port Authority.

New Paltz is super cute and welcoming town. As a lesbian couple we felt very safe and comfortable there, probably more so than any other town in the Hudson Valley. There were lots of rainbow flags in windows and signs promoting to stop hate. There is so much to do in New Paltz which is why it’s one of our favorite towns in the Hudson Valley. Please check out our New Paltz vlog for more info and to see how we hiked to this amazing waterfall in Minnewaska State Park!
